Traditional Acupuncture is an ancient system
of healing used for thousands of years in
eastern countries to restore and maintain
health. It is a holistic form of medicine the aim
of which is to balance ones vital energies
known as Qi Energy.
By inserting fine needles into specific points
along the energy channels, or by the smouldering of a herb called Moxa, the individual's own healing responses are
stimulated and the benefits should be felt on
the physical, emotional and spirit levels.
Over recent years Traditional Acupuncture
has evolved to become one of the main
complementary systems of healing in the
west and as research and practice show its
effectiveness, Acupuncture is becoming
assimilated into more conventional health
care.
As Traditional Acupuncture is a whole system
of medicine it can potentially be used to treat
a wide range of health problems. Most people
will come for help with a specific condition or
symptom. Some of the conditions I have
treated over the years include:-
- Abdominal and epigastric complaints
Anxiety
Arthritis
Asthma
Back pain
Circulatory problems
Colitis
Constipation
Cystitis
Depression
Diarrhoea
Frozen shoulder
Hayfever
Headaches
Hypertension
Indeterminate aches and pains
Infertility
Insomnia
ME
Menopausal problems
Migraine
Palpitations
Panic attacks
Phobias
Quitting smoking
RSI
Sciatica
Sinusitis
Sports injuries
Stress
Tennis elbow
Trigeminal neuralgia
Vertigo
This list is by no means exhaustive but gives an
idea of the effectiveness and scope of Traditional Acupuncture.
Acupunture is increasingly becoming the therapy of choice for women trying to conceive or for couples dealing with problems of infertility. Acupuncture is very effective in increasing fertility, enabling conception or supporting IVF treatment.
Acupuncture is also extremely helpful for problems in pregnancy, e.g., morning sickness, habitual miscarriage, oedema, malposition of feutus, the need for induction and prolonged labour.
